The operation was carried out following suspicions of combat weapons being used during an incident at an Arab wedding, as part of the crackdown on gunfire and illegal use of weapons at weddings and events in the Muslim sector. During the search, the officer was attacked by people at the scene. A suspect was arrested on site, transferred for questioning at the Umm al-Fahm station, and jailed at the end of the interrogation.

Police are expected to ask the court to extend his detention based on the investigation’s needs and findings. Police said they view any attempt to harm officers during the performance of their duties with severity, and that the fight against gunfire and the use of illegal combat weapons will continue.
