The Houthi terror organization launched a drone Friday morning toward Islam’s holiest city, Mecca. The city, located on Saudi Arabia’s western coast, sustained no damage after the drone was successfully intercepted by Saudi defense systems.

Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree once again denied his organization was responsible for launching the drone toward the holy city. Saree also denied responsibility in September, after alerts sounded in Mecca for the first time in history, that the Yemeni terror group was behind the attack on the city.
The last times Mecca was attacked, the Houthis faced widespread condemnation from across the Muslim world. Despite the denials, countries and leaders rushed to say that Mecca is a red line when it comes to the conflict between the Saudis and the terror organization.

Saudi Arabia recently reported that the latest escalation and fighting with the Houthis in Yemen has already directly affected nearly 10,000 people. The medical emergency in Yemen has shifted from being defined as “chronic vulnerability” to a complex disaster that cannot be contained, especially in Taiz—the country’s third-largest city, which remains under sustained siege by Houthi rebels.
