Firefighters are working Thursday to extinguish a fire that broke out in an apartment on Barkat Street in Ashdod. When the call came into Israel Fire and Rescue’s dispatch center, crews from the southern district rushed to the scene and found smoke and flames pouring from the apartment in the residential building.
Firefighters immediately began working to put out the blaze to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring apartments in the building. At the same time, crews are conducting thorough searches inside the burning apartment and throughout all floors of the building to locate anyone trapped and ensure no one is in danger.
Israel Fire and Rescue’s southern district said that as of now, no injuries have been reported in the incident, and firefighters continue their operations at the scene. A fire investigator is expected to arrive later to determine the circumstances of how the fire started.
