A night of bloodshed unfolded in Trenton, the capital of New Jersey, early Sunday morning when multiple gunmen opened fire on civilians near residential buildings, leaving two dead and more than a dozen wounded.

Local police were called to 194 Locust Street in the early morning hours after reports of dozens of gunshots. When officers arrived at the scene, they found numerous victims suffering from gunshot wounds, some in critical condition.
Two people were killed in the shooting and 11 others were wounded with varying degrees of injury. Some victims made their way to the regional medical center on their own, while others were taken by emergency responders.

Police cordoned off streets near the scene and launched a manhunt for the shooters. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force has opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, though the motive for the mass shooting in the heart of the residential neighborhood remains under investigation.
