Leaders of France, Germany, Britain, and Italy condemned Israel’s decision Thursday to issue construction tenders for the E1 residential project in Judea and Samaria. In a joint statement, the four countries called the move “unacceptable.”

The joint statement read: “The Israeli government’s decision to publish bids for construction tenders as part of the E1 settlement project is unacceptable.” Meanwhile, Britain announced it will prepare targeted sanctions against those involved in expanding the Jewish community in Judea and Samaria, alongside additional measures in response to the E1 project.

British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said the British government summoned the official in charge of relations at Israel’s embassy in the country over the tender and demanded Israel halt the move and cancel the tender. He also announced that additional measures against Israel will be announced in the coming weeks.
