Air Canada will officially resume direct flights between Tel Aviv and Montreal starting in May 2027. Operating three times weekly on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, the route will offer full three-class service as part of the airline's global long-haul network expansion.

Air Canada announced a major move for travelers from Israel: the planned return of direct service between Tel Aviv (TLV) and Montreal (YUL). Passengers will need to wait, though—the route isn’t expected to resume until May 2027. Flights will operate on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, among the most advanced aircraft in the carrier’s fleet, providing a direct air bridge between Israel and one of Canada’s major destinations.

What Will the Flights Include and How Often Will They Run?

The revived route will operate three times weekly. The Dreamliners serving the route offer three cabin classes: Signature Class business with 30 seats that convert to lie-flat beds and provide direct aisle access for every passenger; Premium Economy with 21 seats; and Economy with 247 seats. This configuration ensures a more comfortable flight experience, especially on long-haul routes like Tel Aviv-Montreal.

Resuming the Israel route is part of Air Canada’s broader strategic push to launch or restart 11 long-haul routes operated by Dreamliners. The rollout begins in November 2026 and includes new destinations like Guangzhou, China; Sapporo, Japan; and Dubrovnik, Croatia, alongside resumed service to Quito, Ecuador. The Tel Aviv route is one of five routes launching or resuming in the second phase during summer 2027.

Part of a Global Expansion Push

The decision to deploy Dreamliners on these routes is designed to maximize fleet efficiency and open new destinations. Air Canada currently operates 40 Boeing 787s, including eight 787-8s and 32 787-9s. The airline has also ordered 14 787-10s, with the first expected to arrive in late 2026, enabling the planned expansion.

For Israeli travelers, this is welcome news promising another convenient option for direct flights to Canada. While the wait is long, the announcement marks Air Canada’s return to regular service on the Montreal route—a popular destination among many Israelis—and signals the carrier’s confidence in the Israeli market over the long term.
