A large group of far-left activists attempted to provoke a violent outcome at an olive harvest in Binyamin, which resulted in the arrest and deportation of two foreign activists as well as the arrest of Russian propagandist Andrey X.

Israeli authorities have decided to deport two foreign left-wing activists arrested after allegedly entering a restricted military zone during an attempted media stunt in Judea and Samaria, amid heightened tensions surrounding olive harvesting in the region.

According to the Judea and Samaria Situation Room, the two activists arrived with several Arabs for an uncoordinated olive harvest near the Arab village of At-Tuwani in the South Hebron Hills, despite prior discussions with village residents and warnings against proceeding with the activity.

When IDF and police forces arrived, the activists allegedly attempted to flee into a prohibited military training zone. Both were arrested on suspicion of unlawfully entering the restricted area and transferred to the Population and Immigration Authority, which decided to deport them and bar their future entry into Israel.

Russian-born activist and social media personality Andrey Khrzhanovskiy, known online as Andrey X, has been detained as well. He moved to Israel at the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, was granted citizenship due to his Jewish heritage, and spent over two years attempting to smear Israelis living in Judea and Samaria as part of the ‘settler violence’ blood libel.

The olive-harvesting event ended without unusual incidents or injuries following advance preparations by security forces, the Binyamin Regional Council said. The council said it had warned authorities about a planned provocation involving far-left activists and the ‘Palestinian’ Authority’s Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission. Following the warning, security forces deployed in advance to prevent confrontations.

The council thanked military and police commanders for their response and warned that additional provocations were expected Friday.
