Ukraine’s General Staff claimed Tuesday that more than 1,500 Russian soldiers were killed or wounded in the past 24 hours. According to a statement from Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, total Russian casualties since the war broke out in February 2022 now stand at roughly 1,568,720.

The Ukrainian military also claims its forces destroyed 9 Russian tanks, 42 artillery systems, and 1,578 drones in the past day. According to Ukrainian estimates, Russia has lost 12,425 tanks since the start of the war. The number of Russian aircraft shot down stands at 449, according to the assessment.

The report came after President Donald Trump froze implementation of new sanctions on Russia last Friday. Trump said he doesn’t want to do anything that would “stupidly” push Moscow away from the negotiating table. Meanwhile, Ukraine launched more than a thousand drones at Russia last night, hitting oil facilities in one of its largest air strikes since the war began.
