Israel’s current assessment is that fighting with Iran could resume within weeks. That’s according to a series of security assessments held Thursday across the defense establishment, against the backdrop of recent developments on the Iranian front and statements by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Israel is at a very high state of readiness for the possibility of renewed military confrontation in the near term. The defense establishment is preparing for various scenarios, including the possibility of an Iranian attack that would require Israel to operate defensively, alongside preparations for offensive action in case concrete preparations for an Iranian strike are detected.
According to assessments, if real preparations for an Iranian attack are identified, Israel may act to thwart the threat before it’s carried out. At the same time, the possibility of action in cooperation with the United States is also being examined, with one scenario being that Israel would lead the military move.

The preparations are also taking place amid Israel’s complex political reality heading into the end of the month. Despite this, the defense establishment understands that a significant security development may require immediate action, regardless of the political timeline.
Right now, all options are on the table. In light of the updated assessments, Israel’s alert level and readiness are being raised, as the defense establishment prepares for the possibility that the confrontation with Iran will resume sooner than expected.
