Israel’s Tax Authority released comprehensive data Tuesday on the activity of the Compensation Fund (Property Tax) three years after the October 7, 2023 terror attack. Since that black Saturday, Israel has conducted a prolonged military campaign through three main operations. To maintain civilian resilience and ensure the stability of the Israeli economy, the fund provided extensive support to citizens and business owners who were affected.
The fund operated on two main tracks. The first covered direct damage to buildings, vehicles, property, and infrastructure physically damaged as a result of military operations. This included payments for lost rental income on buildings damaged in military operations as well as funding temporary hotel housing for evacuees. In total, about 168,000 direct damage claims were filed, and approximately ₪8.3 billion was paid out.
The second track covered indirect economic damage to businesses resulting from the security situation, including lost profits. Compensation was provided through a nationwide track, green tracks for severely affected sectors and regions, and a red track for communities along the Gaza border and the northern confrontation line. Payments were also made to businesses affected. In total, nearly one million indirect damage claims were filed, and a massive sum of approximately ₪30 billion was paid out.
