An arab terrorist attempting to throw an explosive device – packed with nails and other dangerous items – at IDF soldiers during an offensive operation in Qabatiya was eliminated by troops, the IDF said Thursday. The incident occurred earlier this week as the Paratroopers Brigade Reconnaissance Unit operated in the Qabatiya area under the Menashe Regional Brigade.

According to the IDF, the terrorist attempted to throw an explosive device toward the soldiers when another Israeli force operating nearby identified him and opened fire. The terrorist was hit and eliminated, while the explosive device detonated near him. No Israeli soldiers were wounded in the attack. Following the incident, troops conducted searches of the area and discovered an additional improvised explosive device on the terrorist’s body that he had not yet managed to throw at the soldiers.

The second explosive was subsequently destroyed in a controlled detonation by Israeli forces. The operation was carried out as part of ongoing IDF activity in the Menashe Regional Brigade area aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure and preventing attacks against Israeli forces in Judea and Samaria.
