The Pentagon held a NATO working session but excluded major members, including Britain, France, and the Baltic states, indicating Trump is dividing the alliance into favored and disfavored partners after they refused to cooperate during the Iran war.

The American newspaper Politico reported that the US Department of Defense organized a working meeting of NATO members, but not all members were invited to the session. According to the report, among the countries not invited were Britain, France, and the Baltic states.

The reasons for excluding these countries are unknown, but Politico added that the uninvited nations fear Trump is trying to reshape the alliance after “Epic Fury”—when the president launched sharp criticism against countries that didn’t rush to help the US in the campaign against Iran.

Now, after they refrained from intervening, a European diplomatic source told the American newspaper: “If Washington tries to divide NATO into good allies and bad allies, it will be dangerous for the United States itself, and for Europe it’s an existential threat.”
