The Kremlin has concluded peace talks are deadlocked and is weighing intensified ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv and infrastructure across Ukraine, according to three sources close to the Kremlin.

Russia is planning to escalate attacks on Ukraine after the Kremlin concluded that negotiations for a deal are stuck and not leading to a breakthrough. That’s according to a Bloomberg report Wednesday citing three sources close to the Kremlin.

According to the report, Moscow is weighing increased use of ballistic missiles against Kyiv, including targets in the city center, alongside broader strikes on infrastructure in other cities across Ukraine. The report comes after weeks of heavy Russian attacks. Last week, 17 people were killed in Russian strikes on Kyiv and its surroundings, and more than 40 others were wounded, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the West to speed up delivery of Patriot air defense systems.

Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to face a shortage of interceptors against ballistic missiles, even though it recently received a limited number of Patriot interceptors. According to reports, Kyiv is warning that without significant reinforcement of its air defense system, Russia will be able to continue applying heavy military pressure alongside the political stalemate.
