A U.S. diplomatic motorcade was seen in Moscow shortly after an American C-17 transport plane landed at Vnukovo Airport, sparking speculation amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Moscow.

An American diplomatic motorcade was spotted moving through the Russian capital of Moscow on Tuesday, following social media footage and flight tracking reports confirming the earlier arrival of a U.S. Air Force heavy transport aircraft at Vnukovo International Airport.

According to live tracking data from Flightradar24, the aircraft—a Boeing C-17A Globemaster III—touched down at Vnukovo shortly after 10:00 AM Moscow time. The military transport had taken off from Riga, Latvia, roughly two hours prior, after originally departing Sunday afternoon from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland near Washington, D.C. At this stage, there is no official confirmation regarding whether the heavy military aircraft was transporting a high-level diplomatic delegation, diplomatic cargo, or personnel involved in a prisoner exchange, though the heavily guarded convoy navigating Moscow streets suggests significant bilateral activity.

The landing of an active-duty American military transport in the Russian capital represents an exceptionally rare event against the backdrop of sustained geopolitical tensions between Washington and Moscow.
