Paratroopers from the 890th Battalion neutralized and eliminated a knife-wielding terrorist during operations in Jenin. The assailant was identified as Fathi Hazem—a former 'Palestinian' Authority security officer and father of the Dizengoff shooter—who was active in weapons smuggling and incitement.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit reported that during offensive operations in the Jenin sector under the Menashe Brigade, an attempted stabbing attack took place. An armed terrorist approached operating forces and attempted to stab a soldier before being swiftly neutralized on the spot.

During an operational raid by fighters from the Paratroopers Brigade’s 890th Battalion in Jenin, the armed assailant charged troops with a knife and was immediately eliminated by precise fire. No casualties were sustained by our forces. The eliminated assailant was identified as Fathi Hazem from Jenin. Forces targeted him following extensive incitement against the State of Israel and the IDF in public speeches and across social media. Our reporter Eliya Aviv reported new  details on the eliminated Arab terrorist Hazem:

  • Family of Terrorists: Fathi Hazem is the father of Ra’ad Hazem, the terrorist who perpetrated the mass shooting attack on Dizengoff Street in Tel Aviv on April 7, 2022, murdering three civilians and wounding six others. He is also the father of Abed Hazem, who carried out a shooting attack at the Jalame crossing. Hazem previously served as a senior officer within the ‘Palestinian’ Authority security apparatus.

  • Smuggling & Incitement: He was heavily involved in smuggling weapons for the Jenin terror networks dismantled during Operation Iron Wall and persistently incited violence to reconstitute those terror cells.

The incident highlights the recurring threat: the critical question of “what happens when ‘Palestinian’ Authority security officers turn their weapons against us?” It has happened before, it happened in Jenin, and remaining silent on this reality compromises Israel’s national security.
