The conflict between the Houthis and Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces continues to escalate, now spreading to new parts of the country. A Yemeni military official reported that a Houthi drone strike targeted government positions in the Hadramawt region of southeastern Yemen. The official said Thursday that two people were killed and 15 wounded in the Houthi attack.
A Yemeni government official confirmed that dozens of Houthi militants were killed and wounded by artillery fire and drone strikes carried out by army forces, which hit Houthi positions, gatherings, and reinforcements on multiple fronts. Yemeni sources described the strikes as “intensive fire with heavy artillery and drones on Houthi militant positions on several combat fronts.” The spokesman added that the Houthi militia continued to launch barrages of ballistic missiles and drones at the port of Mocha in Taiz province, emphasizing that these attacks are aimed at the vital civilian port’s economic activity. He stressed that it’s important to remember that the terror organization is led by Iran and subordinate to it—and that Iran bears responsibility for the expanding escalation.
