A severe indictment was filed this week against a 19-year-old Palestinian who was in Israel illegally without a driver’s license, after he went on a dangerous crime spree in the Jerusalem area. The suspect stole a car, rammed a police cruiser, injured a female officer, and tried to steal two more vehicles during his escape attempts before being arrested by police and civilians.
The incident began Friday, July 31, when the suspect arrived in the Talzastone area, stole a car, and fled the scene driving recklessly. Officers from the Harel station spotted the stolen vehicle and immediately gave chase. During the pursuit, the suspect rammed the police cruiser with force, injuring a female officer who required medical evacuation. The vehicle was then stopped, and the suspect began fleeing on foot while endangering passersby on the road.
During the foot chase, officers fired at the suspect to neutralize the threat, and he was lightly wounded. Despite his injury, the suspect continued his frantic escape and tried to steal a second car to continue his flight. Civilians at the scene engaged along with the officers, and the suspect was caught and arrested just as he was attempting to steal the third vehicle that day.
