A senior Iranian source revealed on Monday that mediators have presented a proposal for a 10-day ceasefire in the mutual attacks between Tehran and Washington, Reuters reported. Political pressure in the United States grows due to rising fuel prices and damage to civilian infrastructure in the Gulf region. This marks an intensive attempt to return the parties to the track of diplomatic negotiations.
Despite the ongoing conflict, both sides refuse to cease dialogue. The senior Iranian source confirmed that Iran had received the details of the proposal, which includes a 10-day lull in tensions as a precondition for resuming talks on an interim agreement. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed that “the United States always remains open to a diplomatic solution,” as long as Iran stops its attempts to control international shipping lanes.
At the same time, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that “ideas from mediators have reached us,” without elaborating on their content. As part of the mediation attempts, the Iranian Interior Minister is expected to hold talks in Pakistan – the chief mediator between the Islamic Republic and the United States.
