Israeli forces struck in central Gaza yesterday (Wednesday) and killed Omar Ahmad Abu Qasem, a battalion-level sniper commander in the military wing of the Hamas terror organization, the IDF announced.
According to the IDF, Abu Qasem took part throughout the war in executing terror attacks against Israeli forces in the Strip. In recent weeks, he attempted to rebuild Hamas’s military wing and orchestrated additional terror attacks against Israeli troops.
The IDF noted that the operation was carried out in violation of the ceasefire agreement. IDF forces under Southern Command are deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement, and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat.
