U.S. Central Command announced it has disabled an oil tanker attempting to reach an Iranian port in the Persian Gulf en route to Kharg Island.
“The commercial vessel ignored multiple warnings as it attempted to breach the blockade,” CENTCOM said. “A U.S. aircraft disabled the ship after striking its smokestack with Hellfire missiles. It is no longer proceeding toward Iran.”
CENTCOM also announced that the U.S. military had completed its second wave of strikes against Iran since Washington began enforcing its renewed naval blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas on July 14, marking the fifth consecutive day of U.S. attacks on the Islamic Republic.
With the blockade tightening and strikes continuing, Tehran’s next move may determine how far this confrontation goes.
