Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the media this evening (Saturday) in a statement regarding the series of political and security events that are stirring up the Middle East, most notably the signing of the framework agreement in the north. Netanyahu presented a firm and uncompromising line against the axis of evil, sent a message of unity to domestic politics, and made it clear that the diplomatic and military campaign is far from over.
1+“Iran and Hezbollah tried to force Israel to withdraw from the security zone – and they did not succeed,” the prime minister declared, directly referring to the recent threats from Tehran and Beirut. Netanyahu chose to publicly and unusually thank the Lebanese government, which he said had shown great courage in the face of the Shiite axis’s pressure. In response to a question from Channel 14, Netanyahu expanded on the dramatic change and said: “The Lebanese government is telling Iran and Hezbollah for the first time – get out of here.”
1+Despite signing the documents in Washington, Netanyahu made it clear that the papers do not tie the hands of the security establishment. “The IDF’s freedom of action will be fully maintained,” he emphasized, “the army must continue to thwart threats at any given moment.” In response to criticism from the left, the prime minister replied: “I am doing what is necessary for the security of the State of Israel. I stand up for the interests that are important to the state, and the United States understands this well.”
The prime minister also addressed the biggest technological threat of the past year, explosive drones, which were recently used by the Iranians in an attack in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as by Hezbollah to harm soldiers and Israel. Netanyahu promised an Israeli revolution in the field: “We still have a lot to do in the field of explosive drones. We will lead the world in addressing this issue technologically and operationally.”
In addition, Netanyahu expressed full confidence that the regional upheaval will ultimately lead to the collapse of the ayatollah regime in Iran. “The regime in Tehran will fall, it will happen. We are already seeing significant demonstrations inside Iran today,” he noted.
