For the first time since the Oslo Accords were signed, the Knesset will hold a comprehensive debate next week examining the ‘Palestinian’ Authority’s violations of the agreements and Israel’s handling of those breaches. The session was initiated by MK Tzvi Sukkot, chairman of the Subcommittee on Judea and Samaria Affairs, and will take place within the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
1+During the debate, Knesset members and security officials will be presented with comprehensive reviews of substantial violations of the agreements by the ‘Palestinian’ Authority over the years, including security issues, smuggling, economic activity, environmental oversight, treatment of holy sites, antiquities, and more. The session will also examine policy directives regarding these violations alongside a review of actions taken by the IDF and the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories over the years.
MK Tzvi Sukkot said ahead of the debate: “More than three decades have passed since the Oslo Accords were signed, but never has the Knesset or any other state institution held a thorough debate examining the scope of the Palestinian Authority’s violations and the price the State of Israel pays for them—including the precious blood of thousands of Jews murdered as a result of this cursed agreement.”
1+Sukkot added that today “we are the world’s most naive country. We signed an agreement without ever stopping to check how much the other side is trampling on it. The time has come to understand there is no real partner on the Palestinian side and to put the facts on the table. If the ‘Palestinian’ Authority violates its commitments time and again, the State of Israel must reexamine its policy and ensure its security and national interests are protected. This is a historic debate designed to end the years-long ignoring of the reality created in the wake of the Oslo Accords.”
