Iran is warning of a possible response after the IDF struck targets in Beirut’s Dahieh district. Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, issued a stark warning today (Sunday) against what he called a “miscalculation” in dealing with Israel.
“We must not fall into a miscalculation,” Rezaei said. “Even if we seek to reach an agreement or any understandings — the path to that goes through punishing the Zionist regime.” He added that if Israel isn’t restrained, any understanding reached could quickly collapse.
The warning comes shortly after the IDF struck Hezbollah targets in Beirut following rocket fire toward Israel and ongoing ceasefire violations by the group. The strike came about a week after Israel’s political leadership made clear that any fire from Lebanese territory would be met with strikes on targets in Lebanon’s capital.
Rezaei’s remarks could be read as hinting at a possible Iranian response — or one carried out by its regional proxies — especially given recent threats from senior officials in Tehran that an Israeli strike in Beirut could lead to further escalation. So far, the Iranian regime has issued no official statement on any practical steps it plans to take in response.
