The US Central Command announced that US forces have intercepted an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman that violated the ongoing blockade in an attempt to transport oil from Iran. “U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) disabled Palau-flagged M/T Settebello as it transited the Gulf of Oman,” it said. “A U.S. aircraft fired precision munitions into the ship’s engine room after the crew repeatedly failed to comply with directions from American forces.”
CENTCOM noted that since the beginning of the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, eight vessels that did not comply with instructions have been blocked, 134 vessels that complied with instructions have been diverted, and 42 vessels carrying humanitarian aid have been allowed to continue on their way.
