After German Chancellor Friedrich Merz claimed Iranians are 'humiliating' Americans, President Trump responded sharply, accusing Merz of legitimizing Iran's nuclear program.

After being verbally attacked by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President Donald Trump fired back today (Tuesday). Trump wrote on Truth Social that the chancellor thinks it’s fine for Iran to have nuclear weapons and added: “He doesn’t know what he’s talking about!”

The president wrote: “The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about! If Iran had a Nuclear Weapon, the whole World would be held hostage. I am doing something with Iran, right now, that other Nations, or Presidents, should have done long ago. No wonder Germany is doing so poorly, both Economically, and otherwise!”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said last night during a discussion with students in Marburg, Germany, that the United States has no convincing strategy in negotiations. The chancellor added that America won’t be able to end the war with Iran quickly, and that the Iranians are “stronger than they thought and are humiliating them.”

During the discussion, Merz argued that “you can’t enter a war without having an exit plan,” pointing to the United States’ previous moves in Afghanistan and Iraq. Beyond criticizing the U.S., Merz praised the Iranians’ skills in conducting negotiations or avoiding them.
