Police Commissioner Danny Levy ordered a large-scale nationwide operation against youth crime on Tuesday, following a situation assessment with National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir in the wake of a series of serious violent incidents over the past week—most notably the murder of Binyamin Zalka. The operation will target perpetrators of crime and violence among youth.
All police districts will be significantly reinforced with both overt and covert forces. Special emphasis will be placed on the Tel Aviv district, where hundreds of Border Police National Guard fighters will be deployed. These forces will be stationed at friction points, entertainment areas, public spaces, and other locations prone to escalation and violent incidents.
The commissioner ordered the use of all resources available to the police, including operational, intelligence, and investigative tools. The directive includes rapid completion of investigation files, targeted arrests, and proactive operations against perpetrators, inciters, and anyone involved in violent incidents. The operation will be managed by the Investigations and Intelligence Division.
Israel Police emphasized that they will act with determination, force, and zero tolerance toward anyone who chooses to take part in violent incidents and crime. The police added that they will continue to use all available tools to protect public safety and security, and to restore a sense of security to the streets.
